October 15, 2026. ChatGPT Business costs $25 per Standard seat and $125 per Premium seat each month, or $20 and $100 a month on annual billing, with a two-seat minimum. ChatGPT Enterprise has no public price; OpenAI quotes it through sales, with credit-based or token-based billing. For one person, ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month and Pro is $100, $200 or $500. Premium seats, added on 24 August 2026, changed the choice for teams that use Codex or ChatGPT Work heavily. We help businesses get recommended inside ChatGPT through AI search optimization, and this guide sets out OpenAI's published prices and where the bill grows.

Prices are in US dollars from OpenAI's Help Center articles on ChatGPT Business, billing and seats, models and limits and the ChatGPT rate card, read 15 October 2026. OpenAI notes that prices can vary by country and currency, and its pricing page shows local currency where it is available.

Business and Plus do not include API usage, according to OpenAI's Help Center. The API is billed separately, so a team that builds its own tools on OpenAI models pays for both.
Standard vs Premium seats
Both seat types include ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex, plus connectors to tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Drive, Slack and GitHub. The differences are in the included usage:
- Premium includes 5x the usage of Standard for Work and Codex, no 5-hour usage limit and weekly usage resets, according to OpenAI's Business overview and release notes.
- Voice: since 9 September 2026, Standard seats get up to 3 hours a day of GPT-Live-1 voice and Premium seats up to 15 hours, with extra voice at 1.25 credits a minute.
- Pro-model messages: Standard includes 15 Pro messages a month, Premium 50 a week, shared across GPT-6 Pro and GPT-5.6 Sol Pro.
- Everyday chat on the Instant setting is virtually unlimited on both, subject to abuse guardrails. Reasoning, Pro, Work and Codex are not unlimited.
OpenAI publishes estimates of how many local messages a Standard seat gets per 5-hour window: 5 to 45 with GPT-6 Astra, 15 to 150 with GPT-6.1 Sol or GPT-6 Sol, 25 to 200 with GPT-5.6 Terra and 250 to 2,000 with GPT-5.6 Luna. The ranges are wide because a long agentic task uses far more of the allowance than a short question.
What a team really pays
OpenAI's own billing examples make the arithmetic concrete. Ten Standard seats and five Premium seats on monthly billing cost $875 a month. Eight Standard and three Premium seats on annual billing cost $5,520 a year. For a 10-person team:
| Seat mix | Monthly billing | Annual billing |
|---|---|---|
| 10 Standard | $250 a month | $2,400 a year |
| 8 Standard + 2 Premium | $450 a month | $4,320 a year |
| 10 Premium | $1,250 a month | $12,000 a year |
Three billing rules catch teams out: added seats are charged immediately on a prorated basis, reductions only take effect at the next billing cycle, and unused seats are generally not refundable. From 24 August 2026, a new Business subscription can hold at most 200 paid seats; larger organizations need Enterprise.
Credits: how extra usage is billed
When a Business user runs out of included usage, work can continue on workspace credits if an owner has bought them. Credits are optional, pooled across the workspace, valid for 12 months and managed under Workspace settings, where owners can also set usage alerts, according to OpenAI's flexible pricing FAQ. The rate card prices usage in credits rather than dollars:
- A GPT-6 Sol message costs 10 credits and a GPT-6 Pro message 50.
- Agent mode costs 30 credits a message and deep research 50 credits a task.
- An image costs 5 credits and voice 1.25 credits a minute.
- Work and Codex are billed per million tokens; a typical Codex task on GPT-6.1 Sol uses 2 to 15 credits, and fast mode doubles the rate.
The rate card also gives a dollar benchmark for developers: on average, Codex costs approximately $100 to $200 per developer per month. That is the number to compare with a $100 or $125 Premium seat.
ChatGPT Enterprise pricing
OpenAI does not publish an Enterprise price. Its pricing page lists custom pricing through sales, with credit-based or token-based agreements, invoicing and volume discounts. Enterprise and Edu workspaces buy a shared credit pool at the contract level, with no per-seat caps by default and overage limits to manage spend.
What Enterprise adds over Business includes SCIM, enterprise key management, data residency in ten regions, a larger context window for GPT Instant (128K against 54K tokens) and 24/7 priority support with SLAs. If you need invoicing, purchase orders, ACH, net terms, zero data retention or a BAA, OpenAI says to use a contracted offering rather than self-serve Business.
Plus vs Business for a small team
Two people on Plus pay $40 a month. Two Standard Business seats cost $50 a month, or $40 on annual billing, and add a shared workspace, admin controls, single sign-on and no training on business data by default. For any team handling client or customer information, that last point usually settles it; our guide to putting client data in ChatGPT explains why. ChatGPT Business vs Claude Team
The two plans now have identical seat prices: $25 and $125 a month, $20 and $100 on annual billing, both with Standard and Premium seats. The differences are in limits and extra usage. Claude Team caps teams at 150 people and bills extra usage at API rates, while a new ChatGPT Business subscription allows up to 200 paid seats and bills extra usage in credits. Our breakdown of Claude Team and Enterprise pricing has the Anthropic side in detail.
Which plan to choose
- Solo: Plus at $20; Pro only if you live in Codex or ChatGPT Work all day.
- 2 to 200 people: Business with Standard seats, adding Premium seats for heavy Codex and Work users, and a small credit pool with alerts as a safety valve.
- Compliance, invoicing or 200+ people: Enterprise through sales.
- Nonprofits: OpenAI's pricing page says nonprofits can get up to 75 percent off Business or Enterprise.
