Why do agencies keep hitting the same revenue ceiling?

Because business development is the only function in an agency with no deadline attached to it. Client work has dates, invoices and someone chasing. New business has none of those, so it is always the thing that slips when the team gets busy, and it always slips at exactly the moment you can least afford it.

The result is a cycle every agency owner recognises. Busy quarter, no prospecting. Project ends, panic prospecting. Three months of pipeline to rebuild from cold, during which cash is tight and you take work you would rather have declined. Referrals do not fix this, because you cannot decide when a referral arrives.

The fix is not more effort, it is removing the dependency on your attention. An outbound system that runs whether or not anyone remembers to run it converts new business from a task into infrastructure. That means separate sending domains so a prospecting campaign can never damage the reputation your client reporting goes out on, a list that refreshes on triggers rather than sitting stale in a spreadsheet, and sequences that keep touching prospects for weeks after the person who set them up moved on to a delivery sprint.

We build it, and we can run it. It uses the same email infrastructure and cold email campaigns approach we use for our own pipeline, alongside our B2B lead generation and digital marketing work. Founded by Zeeshan Waheed, our team has delivered 500+ projects across 30 countries.

Sender requirements are from Google, Yahoo and Microsoft published guidance. Timelines are typical for our builds and vary with scope.

How it runs

New business that keeps running when you are busy

The point is not to prospect harder. It is to make prospecting independent of whoever has spare time this week.

What we build

What we build for agencies

Positioning first, because a sharp offer sent badly still beats a vague offer sent perfectly.

Positioning and offer

The hardest part is not the sending, it is having something specific enough to be worth reading. We sharpen who you are for and what you actually change.

Specific beats broad

Infrastructure separate from client work

Prospecting sends never touch the domain your client reporting and invoices go out on, so a bad campaign can never take down client communication.

Client mail protected

Decision-maker and trigger targeting

Founders, CMOs and heads of marketing at companies showing a reason to buy now: new funding, a marketing hire, a leadership change, or a competitor's agency losing the account.

Timing beats volume

Sequences that survive a busy month

Five to seven touches with a changing angle, running on their own so pipeline does not stop the week your team is heads-down on delivery.

Runs without you

Email plus LinkedIn

The same person, approached on two channels with consistent positioning, which lifts reply rates without lifting send volume.

Two channels, one story

Pipeline attribution

Meetings, proposals and signed retainers traced back to the sequence and list that produced them, so you can drop what is not working.

Client results

Agencies we have helped scale

Named by vertical rather than by client, because most of this work is under NDA.

Digital marketing · 12 people

Referral-only to $500K of new revenue in six months

45new clients
$500Knew revenue

A 12-person digital marketing agency depended entirely on referrals and had been flat at $1.2M for two years. We built an outbound engine aimed at e-commerce brands and they signed 45 new retainer clients in six months.

Creative studio · Boutique

A pipeline that survives a busy delivery quarter

3xmeetings per month
0months without new business

A boutique creative studio lost every prospecting month to delivery crunch. Moving new business onto always-on sequences tripled monthly meetings and ended the gaps between signings.

Consulting · B2B services

Outbound as the second predictable channel

47meetings in 90 days
4retainers signed

A B2B consulting firm wanted something they could forecast alongside referrals. Trigger-based targeting and a six-touch sequence produced 47 meetings in the first 90 days.

Client results from our own engagements. Outcomes depend on offer, market and list quality, so treat these as what has been achieved rather than what is promised.

Where it pays

Which agencies this works best for

Outbound rewards a clear offer and a definable buyer. It punishes vagueness faster than any other channel.

Referral-dependent agencies

Referrals are your best channel and your biggest risk, because you cannot forecast them, scale them or turn them on in a slow quarter.

Add a channel you control

Specialists in a niche

If you only serve one vertical, your list is finite and knowable, which is the ideal condition for outbound rather than a limitation.

Narrow lists convert

Retainer-model agencies

When one client is worth five or six figures a year, a small number of extra conversations changes the whole year.

Few wins, big swing

Agencies with no BD hire

You cannot yet justify a full-time new business lead, but the founder cannot keep doing it between delivery calls either.

Cheaper than a hire

Agencies entering a new market

New vertical or new geography, no referral network there yet, and inbound will take a year to build.

Start from zero

Agencies about to hire

Pipeline needs to exist before headcount does. Building it after you hire is how agencies end up cutting the hire.

imisofts builds and runs outbound for agencies: positioning and offer work, dedicated sending domains kept separate from client sending, decision-maker and trigger-based list building, multi-touch email and LinkedIn sequences, and booked meetings with the people who hire agencies. Founded by Zeeshan Waheed, the team has delivered 500+ projects across 30 countries and is normally sending in about 14 days. Book a call at https://cal.com/zeeshanwaheed/30min.

Most agencies can do it. Very few keep doing it, because new business is the only work with no client deadline attached, so it is always what slips when delivery gets busy. Outsourcing it is not about capability, it is about making pipeline independent of who has spare time this week. Several of our agency clients eventually take it in-house once it is running, and we hand it over.

Not if it is built properly, and this is the reason we insist on separate infrastructure. Prospecting always runs from dedicated domains, so the worst case is a disposable sending domain rather than the domain your client reports, invoices and campaign notifications go out on.

That depends on your niche, your average retainer value and how sharp your positioning is, so a specific promise before we have seen your market would be a guess. Our agency clients have ranged from a handful of high-value conversations a month to several a week. We build a realistic range with you on the audit call from your own numbers.

Sending starts in about 14 days once domains are authenticated and warmed. First replies typically arrive in the first week of sending and meetings usually follow in weeks two to four, because most positive replies land somewhere between the third and sixth touch rather than on the first email.

No. We hold one agency per niche and geography at a time so we are never running near-identical sequences into the same list for two clients. If your niche is already covered we will tell you on the first call rather than after you have signed.
