Short answer. beehiiv's paid plans now start at $59 a month for Lite and $109 for Pro at 1,000 subscribers ($49 and $95 a month billed yearly), and the Free plan still covers up to 2,500 subscribers. The new prices apply to new customers from 1 October 2026. Existing customers move to them at their first renewal on or after 1 November 2026, and annual customers keep their current price until their term renews. Month to month, Lite (which replaces Scale) costs 14.5% to 42.6% more than Scale did, depending on list size: $139 instead of $109 at 10,000 subscribers. Pro (which replaces Max) costs the same month to month at 1,000 and 2,500 subscribers but 52.3% more at 100,000 ($699, was $459). On yearly billing the rise is 13.1% to 37.6% for Lite, and Pro runs from 1.5% cheaper to 48.3% dearer. We earn a commission if you buy Kit through our links; beehiiv pays us nothing.

We read every current price below on 27 October 2026 on beehiiv's pricing page, in its 1 October announcement and on Kit's pricing page, plus Stripe's card rate on Stripe's pricing page. The old prices come from beehiiv's pricing page as the Wayback Machine archived it on 23 September 2026; a capture on 1 October still showed them and one on 3 October showed the new plans. Percentages and yearly totals are our arithmetic; yearly-billing comparisons use the per-month prices each page displays.

What beehiiv costs now, by subscriber tier
beehiiv prices Lite and Pro by subscriber tier: you pay for the band your list falls in, and it counts "unique email addresses subscribed to your publication". Every plan includes unlimited email sends. Lite stops at 100,000 subscribers. Pro now runs to 250,000 without a sales call, where the old self-serve plans stopped at 100,000.
| Subscribers | Lite, monthly | Lite, billed yearly (per month) | Pro, monthly | Pro, billed yearly (per month) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $59 | $49 | $109 | $95 |
| 2,500 | $79 | $69 | $149 | $129 |
| 5,000 | $109 | $95 | $199 | $169 |
| 10,000 | $139 | $119 | $239 | $199 |
| 25,000 | $199 | $169 | $349 | $299 |
| 50,000 | $299 | $249 | $469 | $399 |
| 75,000 | $389 | $329 | $589 | $499 |
| 100,000 | $469 | $399 | $699 | $599 |
| 150,000 | Not offered | Not offered | $799 | $689 |
| 200,000 | Not offered | Not offered | $899 | $779 |
| 250,000 | Not offered | Not offered | $999 | $869 |
Yearly prices are shown per month and billed once a year, so Lite at 1,000 subscribers comes to $588 a year by our arithmetic; the new page does not print yearly totals. Enterprise, listed as "Custom", is available at any size through beehiiv's sales team and is required above 250,000 subscribers.

Scale to Lite, Max to Pro: the old and new prices
The announcement, signed by cofounder and CEO Tyler Denk, maps Launch to Free, Scale to Lite and Max to Pro, and calls this "only the second time" beehiiv has changed its plans and pricing in nearly five years. Month to month, the change looks like this:
| Subscribers | Scale (old) | Lite (new) | Change | Max (old) | Pro (new) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $49 | $59 | +20.4% | $109 | $109 | 0% |
| 2,500 | $69 | $79 | +14.5% | $149 | $149 | 0% |
| 5,000 | $89 | $109 | +22.5% | $169 | $199 | +17.8% |
| 10,000 | $109 | $139 | +27.5% | $219 | $239 | +9.1% |
| 25,000 | $169 | $199 | +17.8% | $289 | $349 | +20.8% |
| 50,000 | $249 | $299 | +20.1% | $379 | $469 | +23.7% |
| 75,000 | $289 | $389 | +34.6% | $419 | $589 | +40.6% |
| 100,000 | $329 | $469 | +42.6% | $459 | $699 | +52.3% |
Three things stand out in that table. At 1,000 and 2,500 subscribers only Lite moves: it is $10 a month more than Scale, while Pro keeps Max's $109 and $149 month to month and is a dollar or two lower on yearly billing ($95 against $96, $129 against $131). From 5,000 subscribers up, both plans rise. The largest lists take the largest increases: at 100,000 subscribers Pro goes from $459 to $699 a month, and a year of Pro billed yearly from $4,847 (as printed on the old page) to $7,188 (12 x $599, our arithmetic), about $2,341 more.
What existing customers pay at renewal
- Monthly plans: the new price starts at your first renewal on or after 1 November 2026, and beehiiv says monthly customers get "at least 30 days' notice before your first bill at the new price."
- Annual plans: you keep your current price "through the end of your current annual term", and the plan then moves over automatically.
- Tier corrections: beehiiv says some accounts "had grown past the tier they were billed for" and were moved to the tier that matches their list. The new tier is also billed from the first renewal on or after 1 November.
- Discounts: an existing discount carries over, but "Discounts can't be combined", so redeeming a later offer replaces it.
At list price, before any discount that carries over, a monthly Scale customer at 10,000 subscribers pays $139 instead of $109, or $360 more a year. An annual Scale customer at the same tier goes from $1,151 a year to about $1,428 (12 x $119, our arithmetic) at renewal. beehiiv's own suggestions for a lower bill are switching to annual billing, removing disengaged subscribers, which can move you into a lower tier, and offsetting the cost with revenue.
Is yearly billing worth it on the new plans?
beehiiv's pricing FAQ says yearly billing "saves up to 20%", and the announcement says annual payment now gets you "up to two months free". On the new price grid, the saving runs from 12.7% (Lite at 2,500 subscribers, $948 against $828 a year) to 16.9% (Lite at 1,000, $708 against $588), so none of the tiers we checked reaches 20% of the monthly cost. Measured against the yearly price instead, Lite at 1,000 comes to 20.4%, which may be the basis beehiiv uses. Two months free would be 16.7%, which Lite at 50,000 and Pro at 10,000 match. Pro saves 12.8% to 16.7% across its tiers.
What Free, Lite and Pro include
- Free ($0, up to 2,500 subscribers): unlimited sends, templates, landing pages, the recommendation network and API access, with one team seat and one publication. beehiiv's comparison table shows no paid subscriptions, no ad network and no automations on Free. The announcement says podcasts, community, MCP and digital products are now on every plan, Free included.
- Lite (up to 100,000): paid subscriptions (one paid tier in the comparison table), the ad network and programmatic ads, paid recommendations, up to 10 live automations, the beehiiv MCP, audience polls, A/B testing, custom domains, three guest authors, two seats, three publications and 12 months of analytics.
- Pro (up to 250,000): removes beehiiv branding and adds unlimited paid tiers and automations, click-triggered automations, paid trials, a sponsorship storefront, unlimited webhooks, dynamic content, webinars and coaching, the Send API, five times Lite's AI usage, unlimited guest authors, 10 seats, 10 publications, unlimited analytics history and 24/7 priority support.
The plan cards also print an average ad payout ("Avg. $39/mo" at 1,000 subscribers, with higher figures at larger tiers). The pricing page gives no basis for that figure, so we would not budget against it. On paid subscriptions beehiiv takes 0%, and its FAQ says you keep what you earn "minus Stripe's standard processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction", which matches Stripe's standard US rate for domestic cards.
beehiiv vs Kit at the same list size
Kit is the alternative we compare here, and it is the one we earn from. Its Free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers and can sell digital products and subscriptions, at Kit's 3.5% plus 30 cents. beehiiv Free stops at 2,500 subscribers, and beehiiv lists paid subscriptions from Lite up, though its announcement says digital products are on every plan, Free included. Kit's paid tiers do not line up exactly with beehiiv's, so the rows below use Kit's nearest tier at or above the count. Monthly prices first, yearly billing per month in brackets:
| Subscribers | beehiiv Lite | Kit Creator | beehiiv Pro | Kit Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $59 ($49) | $39 ($33) | $109 ($95) | $79 ($66) |
| 2,500 (Kit: 3,000) | $79 ($69) | $59 ($50) | $149 ($129) | $99 ($83) |
| 5,000 | $109 ($95) | $89 ($75) | $199 ($169) | $139 ($116) |
| 10,000 | $139 ($119) | $139 ($116) | $239 ($199) | $189 ($158) |
| 25,000 | $199 ($169) | $199 ($166) | $349 ($299) | $279 ($233) |
| 50,000 (Kit: 55,000) | $299 ($249) | $379 ($316) | $469 ($399) | $519 ($433) |
| 75,000 | $389 ($329) | $499 ($416) | $589 ($499) | $663 ($553) |
| 100,000 (Kit: 105,000) | $469 ($399) | $679 ($566) | $699 ($599) | $879 ($733) |
On list price, Kit Creator is $20 a month cheaper than beehiiv Lite month to month at 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000 subscribers ($16 to $20 billed yearly), the same month to month at 10,000 and 25,000, and $80, $110 and $210 a month dearer at 50,000, 75,000 and 100,000. Because the tiers do not line up, check your exact count: a list of 52,000 falls in beehiiv's 75,000 tier ($389) but Kit's 55,000 tier ($379), so there Kit Creator is $10 a month cheaper. Kit Creator also lets you remove Kit branding; beehiiv reserves branding removal for Pro. Kit's Pro figures above are its standard rates; on 27 October Kit showed a first-year offer of about 25% off yearly Pro at the tiers we checked up to 55,000 subscribers and about 10% off at 75,000 and 105,000, renewing at the standard rate after the first year.
The other number that cuts against Kit is the payment fee. Kit charges 3.5% plus 30 cents on digital products and subscriptions, inclusive of card processing, against beehiiv's 0% plus Stripe's 2.9% plus 30 cents on domestic cards. On 500 paid subscribers at $10 a month, that is $325 a month on Kit against $295 on beehiiv, so $30 a month more on Kit. Month to month, Lite and Creator cost the same at 10,000 and 25,000 subscribers, so beehiiv Lite is cheaper as soon as you take any paid revenue; on yearly plans Kit is $3 a month cheaper there, which the fee gap cancels once paid revenue passes about $500 a month. At 1,000 to 5,000 subscribers the crossover is about $3,333 a month of paid revenue month to month, or $2,667 to $3,333 on yearly plans. Compare Kit's plans (partner link) if you want to check your own tier.
Which one we would pick
This is our reading of the two price lists, not a test of either product's deliverability or support.
- Between 2,500 and 10,000 subscribers with no paid product yet: we would start on Kit Free, which costs $0 where beehiiv would need Lite ($109 to $139 a month, $95 to $119 a month billed yearly), if you can do without automations and sequences; otherwise compare Creator with Lite above. Under 2,500 both are free, and neither free plan includes automations, so choose on features.
- Up to 5,000 subscribers on a paid plan with little paid revenue: Kit Creator is $20 a month cheaper than Lite month to month ($16 to $20 billed yearly) and lets you remove branding.
- A paid newsletter: at exactly 10,000 and 25,000 subscribers, beehiiv Lite beats Kit Creator from the first dollar of paid revenue month to month, or above about $500 a month on yearly plans; at 50,000, 75,000 and 100,000 Lite is cheaper outright. At 1,000 to 5,000 subscribers the crossover is about $3,333 a month of paid revenue month to month, or $2,667 to $3,333 on yearly plans.
- At 50,000, 75,000 and 100,000 subscribers exactly: beehiiv Lite is cheaper than Kit Creator and Pro is cheaper than Kit Pro's standard rate. Just above a beehiiv tier boundary the order can flip, as the 52,000 example shows.
If you are already on beehiiv and your renewal falls on or after 1 November, compare your new tier with Kit's, fees included, before the bill arrives. Start a free Kit account to see the plan that fits your list, or read our Kit pricing breakdown and Kit against Mailchimp.
Newsletter tools and cold email are separate jobs
Both tools send to subscriber lists. If your business also sends cold outreach, we would keep it on separate domains and inboxes rather than on your newsletter account, so outreach problems are less likely to affect the newsletter's sender reputation. That separate setup is what we build as email infrastructure, alongside our cold email marketing service.

Pro (formerly Max) costs the same month to month at 1,000 and 2,500 subscribers ($1 to $2 a month less on yearly billing) and up to 52.3% more month to month at 100,000, by our comparison with beehiiv's pricing page as archived on 23 September 2026.
At their first renewal on or after 1 November 2026. beehiiv says monthly customers get at least 30 days' notice before the first bill at the new price, and annual customers keep their current price until their term ends. Accounts that had outgrown their billed tier were moved to the matching tier, billed from the same renewal.
beehiiv replaced them with new plans on 1 October 2026 for new customers: Launch maps to Free, Scale to Lite and Max to Pro. Existing plans move over automatically at the first renewal on or after 1 November 2026. beehiiv says it takes 0% of paid subscription and digital product revenue, and you pay Stripe's 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction (Stripe's standard US rate for domestic cards). beehiiv's comparison table lists paid subscriptions from Lite up, not on Free. Kit charges 3.5% plus 30 cents, inclusive of card processing, which is 0.6 percentage points more.
It depends on list size. Month to month, Kit Creator is $20 a month cheaper than beehiiv Lite at 1,000 to 5,000 subscribers ($16 to $20 a month on yearly billing), the same price at 10,000 and 25,000, and $80 to $210 dearer at 50,000, 75,000 and 100,000 (using Kit's nearest tier at or above each count). Kit's free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers against 2,500 on beehiiv, but beehiiv charges no platform fee on paid subscriptions.
