HubSpot Credits Cost: What Every AI Agent Action Costs in Dollars

September 24, 2026. HubSpot's Fall '26 Spotlight on September 16 put agents at the centre of the platform, and the launch release does not use the word credit once. The prices sit in a different document: the HubSpot Credits Rate Sheet inside HubSpot's legal Product and Services Catalog. One credit costs $0.010, so every line on that sheet converts straight into dollars. For an agency running HubSpot for clients, that conversion decides whether an agent is a feature you switch on or a line item you have to explain on next month's invoice.

The rate sheet, converted to dollars

Every figure below is HubSpot's own credit rate, read from the catalog today, multiplied by the $0.010 per credit price the same page publishes.

  1. Customer agent: 50 credits, or $0.50, to resolve one conversation on a text channel.
  2. Customer agent, voice (beta): 50 credits, or $0.50, for each minute of voice conversation.
  3. Prospecting agent: 100 credits, or $1.00, to recommend outreach for one lead.
  4. Revenue agent (beta): 500 credits, or $5.00, to start payment collection outreach for one invoice.
  5. Content agent (beta): 1,000 credits, or $10.00, for one piece of content.
  6. Knowledge Base agent (beta): 200 credits, or $2.00, for one new article.
  7. Data agent and Nurture agent (beta): 10 credits, or $0.10, per prompt per record or per personalised email.
  8. Workflows: 10 credits, or $0.10, to execute one AI action inside a workflow.
  9. Custom agents and Work agents (beta): 1 credit per "action unit", with the number of action units per prompt shown only as an estimate when you test the agent.
  10. Buyer intent: 50 credits, or $0.50, to monitor one company for one custom signal for one month.

What the included credits actually buy

Paid HubSpot subscriptions include a monthly allowance: 500 credits on Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 5,000 on Enterprise for the Smart CRM and the individual hubs, and 500, 5,000 and 10,000 for Data Hub or the bundled Customer Platform. At list price that is $5, $30 and $50 of agent usage a month.

Translate the Professional allowance into work and it is smaller than it sounds. 3,000 credits covers 60 resolved conversations, or 60 minutes of voice agent, or 30 prospecting recommendations, or 6 invoices chased, or 3 pieces of content. Starter's 500 credits cannot pay for a single content agent run.

Two catalog rules shrink it further. Credits reset monthly and unused credits do not roll over. And included credits are not additive across products: a portal on Marketing Hub Professional and Sales Hub Professional gets one 3,000 allowance, not 6,000, because HubSpot grants the highest single allotment.

The voice agent is priced like a premium line

At 50 credits a minute, HubSpot's voice customer agent costs $0.50 per minute of conversation, and the catalog notes that an agent feature may also consume telephony minutes at separate service charges. For context, our per-minute breakdown of AI phone calls found the orchestration layer on developer platforms at about five cents a minute, with the model, the voice and the phone line billed on top. HubSpot's credit charge is roughly ten times that orchestration fee before the phone line is counted.

That is not automatically a bad trade. The HubSpot agent reads the CRM record it is talking about, and nobody has to maintain a four-vendor pipeline. But a home services business taking 300 minutes of calls a month would spend $150 in credits on the voice agent alone, and at that volume a purpose-built stack is worth pricing. It is the comparison we run for clients evaluating AI call answering for home services, where after-hours volume is the whole case.

Two agents bill on outcome, one bills on effort

HubSpot moved Customer Agent and Prospecting Agent to what it called paying when the task is complete from April 14, 2026, at $0.50 per resolved conversation and $1 per lead recommended for outreach. The rate sheet wording matches: resolve one conversation, recommend outreach for one lead.

The newer agents are worded differently. The Revenue agent charges 500 credits to start collection outreach for one invoice, which reads as a charge for starting, whether or not the invoice gets paid. The Content agent charges per piece generated, not per piece published. Custom agents bill in action units that you only see as an estimate during testing. Budget the outcome-priced agents per result and the others per attempt.

Where the bill scales quietly

The rate sheet itself warns that automated, bulk and high-volume features consume credits faster. The workflow AI action is the clearest case: a nurture workflow with one AI step that enrols 5,000 new contacts a month uses 50,000 credits, which is $500, and nobody opened an agent to spend it.

Recurring features are the second case. The catalog defines "per recurrence" features as consuming credits on activation and then monthly for as long as they stay enabled. Monitoring 500 target accounts for one custom intent signal costs 25,000 credits, or $250, every month, including the months nobody reads the signal.

Pay-as-you-go versus a capacity pack

Overage is billed pay-as-you-go at $0.010 per credit, in increments of 10 credits, and on your reset date the account returns to its original limit. A capacity pack works differently: it raises the credit limit by 1,000 credits a month, at $10 per pack, for the remainder of your commitment term, and the catalog says an account set to upgrade automatically is upgraded for the rest of the term when usage passes the limit.

The difference is large on an annual contract. A one-off spike of 5,000 extra credits costs $50 on pay-as-you-go. Absorbed as five capacity packs with eleven months left on the term, the same spike commits up to $550.

What it means for operators

Five things to do before an agent goes live in a client portal:

  1. Convert every agent you plan to enable into dollars per month using the rates above, and compare the total with the included allowance, not with the subscription price.
  2. Leave automatic capacity upgrades off unless the forecast is steady. Pay-as-you-go overage resets; a capacity pack does not.
  3. Set per-feature credit limits. The catalog points to HubSpot's "Manage HubSpot Credits" help article for limits on specific features, and a cap on the workflow AI action alone prevents most surprises.
  4. Run every custom agent in test before publishing and record the estimated action units per prompt. That estimate is the only price you will get in advance.
  5. Write credits into the retainer as pass-through usage, the way you already treat ad spend. If you bought through the HubSpot and OpenAI growth bundle, remember its credit discount has a one-year clock.

The broader method is the same one we use in what it costs to run an AI agent: price the unit the vendor meters, then multiply by the volume your client actually has. If you want that model built for a specific portal, our AI automation agency team does it as part of scoping, and we can put an AI engineer on the build when a HubSpot agent is the wrong tool for the volume.

Frequently Asked Questions

HubSpot's Product and Services Catalog lists additional credits at $0.010 each. Overage is billed pay-as-you-go in increments of 10 credits, and capacity packs add 1,000 credits a month for $10 for the rest of your commitment term.

Starter includes 500 credits a month, Professional 3,000 and Enterprise 5,000 for the Smart CRM and the individual hubs. Data Hub and the bundled Customer Platform include 500, 5,000 and 10,000. Credits reset monthly, do not roll over, and are not additive across products.

50 credits, which is $0.50, for each conversation it resolves on a text channel. HubSpot says it moved Customer Agent to pay-on-completion pricing from April 14, 2026. The voice version is priced at 50 credits per minute of conversation, and telephony may be charged separately.

The rate sheet lists 10 credits, or $0.10, to execute one AI action in a workflow. Because workflows run on every enrolled record, a single AI step on 5,000 contacts a month uses 50,000 credits, which is $500.

Usage above your monthly limit is billed as pay-as-you-go overage at the per-credit rate, and the limit returns to normal on your reset date. If you have configured automatic upgrades, the catalog says the account is instead upgraded with capacity packs for the remainder of your term.

It depends on volume. At $0.50 per minute before telephony, HubSpot's voice agent costs about ten times the orchestration fee of developer voice platforms, but it reads your CRM directly and needs no pipeline to maintain. Below a few hundred minutes a month the convenience can win; above that, price a dedicated stack.
