Google Meet Follow-Up Email Drafts: Which Workspace Plans Get Them

October 13, 2026. Google Meet can now draft the follow-up email after a call and add the action items to Google Tasks, but only on Business Standard, Business Plus and the Enterprise Standard and Plus editions, not on Business Starter, according to Google's Workspace Updates post of October 12. With a one-year commitment that is $14 a user a month for Standard and $22 for Plus, against $7 for Starter, per Google's pricing page. The feature needs "Take notes for me" running during the meeting, and it writes a draft in Gmail rather than sending anything.

What Google shipped

  1. Next steps on the post-meeting screen. A section called "Routines for this meeting" turns on a next step with one tap, for a single meeting, a recurring series, or every meeting where note-taking is on. Two routines exist so far, a follow-up email draft and action items in Google Tasks, and Google says more are coming. The rollout started on October 5 and can take more than 15 days to reach every domain.
  2. Workspace Studio runs it. The routines are built on Google's no-code automation tool and show up in your Studio flows library after first use. The feature is on by default, and admins can switch it off by domain, organizational unit or group in the Workspace Studio or note-taking settings.
  3. Studio's October release adds follow-up building blocks. From October 13, over a rollout of up to 15 days, Studio flows get nested conditionals, a Gmail trigger that can skip follow-up replies, Meet outputs that include the full invitee list with a template for post-meeting follow-up drafts, and a Drive step that searches for a document, per Google's October 9 post. Studio itself is available from Business Starter up, per Google's admin help.

Android Authority reported the same two routines on October 13.

What it means for sales teams

For a small sales team, this removes the slowest part of a discovery call: writing the recap. With note-taking on, every prospect call can end with a draft in Gmail and the action items in Google Tasks, so the rep edits and sends while the call is fresh. Two limits matter. Nothing reaches the prospect without a human, which is the right default for sales email. And the output lands in Gmail and Tasks, not in your CRM, so the deal stage, the notes and the next date still need a sync.

Studio's own ceilings also apply: 25 flows per user, no more than 25 active flows started by Gmail, and 20 steps per flow, per its limits page. Our Workspace Studio reply automation guide covers how those flows behave in Gmail.

How to use it this week

  1. Check your edition. On Starter, price the move to Standard, $7 more per user a month, against the time your reps spend writing recaps.
  2. Turn on note-taking for sales calls and enable the follow-up routine for one-off demos and for the recurring pipeline review.
  3. Close the CRM gap. Logging the call, the stage and the next date is a standard job for our AI automation and n8n builds.
  4. Keep cold email off this mailbox. These drafts go out from the rep's own Workspace address, which suits warm follow-ups. Cold outbound belongs on separate sending domains and inboxes, the email infrastructure we set up so prospecting volume never touches the address your customers reply to.
