On June 30, 2026, all Scripts stop executing, with no grace period, and Shopify has confirmed the deadline will not move again. Editing and publishing Scripts already ended on April 15. If your checkout still runs custom logic through Scripts, that logic does not throw an error on July 1. It simply disappears, and checkout reverts to standard Shopify behavior. What breaks on July 1
- Custom discounts. Tiered, volume, and bundle discount rules written in Scripts stop applying, so customers see standard pricing.
- Shipping logic. Custom rate rules, plus hiding or renaming shipping methods, revert to default.
- Payment gating. Rules that hide or reorder payment methods, including B2B payment filtering, stop running.
The six day checklist
- Audit. List every active Script and exactly what it does at checkout.
- Map each Script to a Shopify Function. Discounts, shipping, and payments now run as Functions, available through the Shopify Functions APIs or as apps from the Shopify App Store.
- Build and test in a preview, not in production. Confirm each Function reproduces the old behavior before it goes live.
- Deploy before June 30, then re-test a real checkout end to end across discounts, shipping, and payment options.
- Keep a written record of the old logic so you can rebuild a rule if something is missed.
What it means for operators
If you have a developer, this is a focused week of work. If you do not, do not wait until July 1 to discover which discounts quietly stopped applying or which payment method suddenly appeared at checkout.
