HighLevel Fixes Two Client Reporting Problems, and Leaves Both Off by Default

August 13, 2026. HighLevel shipped two changes to dashboards and reporting on August 11 that both matter to agencies sending whitelabeled reports to clients. One lets a single dashboard template resolve per sub-account. The other stops metrics like unsubscribe rate showing a green arrow when they rise. Both are useful. Both are also inactive on every dashboard you have already built, and that is the part worth acting on.

The two reporting changes

  1. A curly brace picker now inserts tokens into widget conditions and into dashboard elements, specifically Embed URL, Title and Text box, per HighLevel's changelog entry on custom values in dashboards.
  2. Available tokens cover location fields such as Location Id, Location Name, Email, Phone, Website, Address, City, State, Country, Postal Code and Timezone, user fields including Id, Email, Phone, Role, Type and name variants, and everything created under Settings and Custom values.
  3. Tokens resolve automatically per sub-account when the dashboard is viewed, so one template can serve every location instead of one duplicate per client.
  4. Separately, widget trend badges can now be told whether an increase or a decrease should be coloured as good, per HighLevel's changelog entry on trend badge colour. HighLevel names unsubscribe rate, bounce rate, churn and cost per lead as metrics where lower is better.
  5. The setting lives in the widget's Configure panel under Advanced settings and applies across Number, Line and Bar views of that widget.

Both are off on everything you already built

HighLevel is explicit that existing widgets default to treating an increase as positive and that no widget's colour behaviour changes unless you update it. So every dashboard currently sitting in front of a client continues to show a rising bounce rate in green until somebody opens that widget and changes it. There is no bulk switch mentioned, and the trend badge only appears at all when a Comparison Date Range is set, so a widget without one shows no trend and no colour either way.

The custom values feature has a quieter version of the same problem. HighLevel notes that a token with no value set for a location resolves as blank in view mode. In a widget condition that is a silent filter change. In a dashboard title it is a client opening a report with an empty space where their business name should be. Insertion is also limited to dashboard editors, so it is not something a client user can fix on their side.

What it means for operators

Do the trend colours before the next reporting cycle, not after, and only where direction actually inverts. In practice that is a short list: unsubscribe rate, bounce rate, spam complaint rate, churn, cost per lead, cost per acquisition and no-show rate. Everything else can keep the default. It is a few minutes per dashboard and it removes the specific failure where a client reads a green arrow as good news on a metric that just got worse.

For custom values, the rebuild only pays off if the tokens resolve everywhere. Before collapsing several client dashboards into one template, confirm that every location has a value set for every token used, particularly for anything in a Title or an Embed URL, because a blank in a title is visible to the client and a blank in an embed URL breaks the frame. Location and user system fields are available by default, but custom values need to be created under Settings first.

The wider point for agencies is that client reporting is where a retainer gets judged, and a dashboard that says the wrong thing in the right colour is worse than no dashboard. Building reporting that a client can read without a translator is part of what our GoHighLevel services team sets up, and the same discipline applies when we design reporting for an AI automation engagement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. A curly brace picker inserts location, user and custom value tokens into widget conditions and into Embed URL, Title and Text box elements, and the tokens resolve automatically per sub-account when the dashboard is viewed. One template can replace a duplicate dashboard per client.

No. HighLevel states that existing widgets default to treating an increase as positive and that no widget's colour behaviour changes unless you update it. Each widget has to be changed individually in its Configure panel under Advanced settings, and no bulk action was announced.

The ones where a rising number is bad. HighLevel names unsubscribe rate, bounce rate, churn and cost per lead. In practice agencies should also check spam complaint rate, cost per acquisition and no-show rate. Everything else can stay on the default.

It resolves as blank in view mode. In a widget condition that quietly changes what the widget filters on, and in a dashboard title or embed URL the client sees an empty space or a broken frame. Set a value for every token on every location before rolling a shared template out.
