GoHighLevel MCP Server Lets AI Agents Run Your CRM in Plain English

June 7, 2026. GoHighLevel just removed the biggest barrier between AI agents and the system most agencies run their clients on. The company's official MCP (Model Context Protocol) server is now live, which means an AI assistant can read and write your HighLevel data in plain English, no custom integration required. For agencies that live inside HighLevel all day, this quietly changes the daily job.

MCP is the open standard, originally introduced by Anthropic and now adopted across the industry, that lets large language models talk to outside tools through one consistent interface. Instead of wiring up the HighLevel REST API by hand, you point any MCP-aware client at a single endpoint and the model can call CRM actions as tools. HighLevel describes it as a bridge that lets you query, automate, and orchestrate everything in your account with AI.

What HighLevel shipped

  1. A hosted MCP endpoint at services.leadconnectorhq.com/mcp/ that works with any client supporting HTTP-based MCP, including Cursor, Windsurf, and the OpenAI Playground.
  2. A first batch of native tools spanning the parts of HighLevel agencies touch most: contacts (create, update, upsert, tag, search), conversations (search and send messages), opportunities and pipelines, calendars and appointments, payments and transactions, social posting, blogs, and email templates.
  3. Simple authentication using a Private Integration Token created under Settings, Private Integrations, plus a Location ID, so access is scoped per sub-account rather than account-wide.
  4. A native path into n8n: add the MCP client node, set the URL, choose HTTP Streamable transport (available in n8n v1.104 and later), and the same tools become steps in a larger workflow.
  5. A public roadmap that includes an npx package for clients that do not yet speak HTTP Streamable (Claude Desktop among them), OAuth support, and a stated goal of expanding to 250-plus tools as a single orchestrator layer.

Why this matters for agencies and operators

Until now, putting AI on top of HighLevel meant either clicking through the dashboard yourself or paying a developer to build against the API for every new use case. The MCP server collapses that. A support agent can ask, in chat, to find every contact added last week and tag them as a new lead. A founder can ask for the last ten transactions over 100 USD and flag any with a refund request. A virtual assistant can have the AI draft and send a follow-up to all unread conversations. These are not future demos; they map directly to the tools HighLevel published.

The strategic read is bigger than convenience. For years the agency debate was HighLevel versus a flexible automation tool like n8n. With an MCP server plus the n8n node, that is no longer either-or. You can let an AI agent handle the conversational, judgment-style work inside HighLevel, and hand the deterministic, multi-app glue to n8n, with the same credentials feeding both. That combination is exactly the kind of back office our team builds for clients through our GoHighLevel services and n8n development.

How to use this without breaking anything

Start read-only. When you create the Private Integration Token, grant view scopes first (contacts, conversations, opportunities) and prove the agent returns the right data before you add edit scopes. Test in a throwaway or internal sub-account, never a paying client's live location, until you trust the prompts. Treat the token like a password, because anything the agent can read, a leaked token can read too. Once a workflow is reliable, promote it: wrap it in n8n so it runs on a schedule or a webhook instead of a human typing the prompt each time.

The agencies that win the next year will not be the ones that simply have AI. They will be the ones that connected AI to the system where the work actually happens. HighLevel just made that connection a 15-minute setup instead of a development project. If you would rather skip the trial and error, our AI automation agency can stand up a governed, tested HighLevel agent for your team and wire it into the rest of your AI automation stack. Frequently Asked Questions

It is an official, hosted Model Context Protocol endpoint from HighLevel that lets AI agents read and write your CRM data through a standard interface. Any MCP-aware client can call HighLevel actions as tools, so you can manage contacts, conversations, pipelines and more using natural language instead of custom API code.

A Private Integration Token created under Settings, Private Integrations in the HighLevel location you want to use, plus that location's ID. You select scopes when you create the token, so you can keep access read-only at first and add edit permissions only when you trust the workflow.

Yes. It works today with any client that supports HTTP-based MCP, such as Cursor, Windsurf and the OpenAI Playground. HighLevel's roadmap adds an npx package for clients that do not yet support HTTP Streamable, including Claude Desktop, plus OAuth support.

n8n has an MCP client node. Point it at the HighLevel MCP URL, choose the HTTP Streamable transport (available in n8n v1.104 and later), and authenticate with your token. The HighLevel tools then become steps you can chain with hundreds of other apps in a single workflow.

It can be, if you scope it carefully. Start with view-only scopes, test in an internal sub-account rather than a client's live account, and protect the token like a password. Add edit scopes only for the specific actions you have verified, and consider running approved workflows through n8n so they are logged and repeatable.

The first release covers the core areas agencies use most, including contacts, conversations, opportunities, calendars, payments, social posting, blogs and email templates. HighLevel has stated a goal of expanding to more than 250 tools as a single orchestration layer.
