What approved startups get
- A free year of Claude Team. Up to five Premium seats, for organizations that are new to Team. Claude's pricing page lists Premium seats at $100 per seat a month billed annually or $125 billed monthly, with five times the usage of a Standard seat; Team is sold for teams of 2 to 150.
- $1,000 in API credits. A one-time credit for the first-party Claude API through the Claude Console. It cannot be spent on AWS Bedrock or Google Cloud Vertex AI, it expires six months after it is granted, and members who receive credits get higher API rate limits.
- The Claude Startup Stack. Discounts and credits from companies building on Claude, worth up to $45,000 at partner list prices as of September 2026. Actual value depends on the offers you redeem.
- More credits through partner VCs. Founders backed by a venture firm in Anthropic's partner network can get up to $100,000 in additional API credits, claimed through the firm.
- Office hours and distribution. Members can book 45-minute office hours with Anthropic's Applied AI team, get help building and submitting a Claude Marketplace listing, and join events such as Founder House and hackathons.

What the credits and seats buy
Anthropic's $6,000 figure is five Premium seats at $100 a month for 12 months, and its headline of up to $7,000 adds the $1,000 credit. At Claude Sonnet 5.5's $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, an agent call that reads 20,000 tokens and writes 1,000 costs $0.05, so $1,000 covers about 20,000 such calls. On Claude Opus 5.5, at $4 and $20, the same call costs $0.10 and the credit covers about 10,000. Spread over the six months before the credit expires, the Sonnet figure is roughly 110 calls a day.
Plan for month 13 now. At list prices, five Premium seats cost $6,000 a year billed annually or $7,500 billed monthly. Five Standard seats, at $20 a seat billed annually or $25 monthly, cost $1,200 or $1,500 a year. Team prices the two seat types separately, so if only one or two people need heavy usage, budget for those on Premium and the rest on Standard.
The fine print that decides it
Only organizations new to Claude Team qualify for the free year, so a team already paying for Team gets the credits but not the seats. Applicants need a Claude Console account, a company email address on the same domain as the company website and a short description of what they are building, and they must meet Anthropic's supportability policies, per the program FAQ. Most applications are decided within minutes; the rest go to manual review, which usually takes two to three business days. Because the credit expires six months after it is granted, claim it when the build starts, not the day you are approved.
What it means for operators
For a founder, the offer covers a year of Claude for up to five people and the first stretch of production traffic. Set a spend limit in the Console before the credit runs out, route routine calls to Sonnet and save Opus for the steps that need it, and decide which seats stay on Premium before renewal. If you want a product on Claude shipped rather than prototyped, our SaaS launch team and AI engineers build on this stack.
The benefit most founders will undervalue is the Marketplace help. An approved listing puts a product in front of people who already use Claude, in Claude's own apps, which is the same audience AI search optimization works to reach when a buyer asks an assistant what to use.
